5 tips to brighten your wardrobe and home over Diwali with Kavita Mehta
Brighten up your favourite denims
This is one staple rule of mine which is foolproof. We all have those denim jeans that we love styling and always reach for. Pair them with a pop of colour to lift your mood and a little jewellery to dress the look, even if it’s casual.
Play with lighting
Lighting is an easy way to make your home look more stylish and expensive - you cannot have enough of them. I also absolutely love having a variety of lamps at different levels in your home, whether it be low to the floor, or on a kitchen countertop, hallway or side table. Lights have a way of bringing a homely, cosy vibe to your space, so the more the merrier.
Embrace texture and pattern
Experiment with contrasting textures to elevate your look. I love this silky skirt paired with one of my favourite classic tweed style jackets, or a sparkly green cardigan to bring something extra. I think it’s possible to use the same formula with colour too, but I feel like textures really mature the look and instantly make you feel dressed up.
Dresses with boots are always a good idea
We all have some good winter boots, from chunky ankle styles to taller, knee-high boots. Throwing on a dress, whether it’s to the floor, knee or thigh, is a comfortable and easy way to feel dressed up during the daytime.
Find a fragrance
I love candles all year round, but over Diwali they bring the most joy around the home. I love to have them everywhere: they bring a lived-in and loved feeling to the space you are in.
